Live Music: Malinka

Our group of talented, creative musicians will carry you through the soundscapes of lands near and far, all through groovy, funky beats, bass breakdowns and hot violin.. culminating in a high-vibe feeling of connectedness to all with whom we share this precious planet.

The rich history of world cultures is captured in songs, and through them, Malinka offers a window into the human story. With themes of love, joy, freedom, social justice, and hope, the vast landscapes of Eastern European, Balkan, Romani, Slavic, Latin, and original music resound as we tap into something high and inherently human, a language we all understand.

Malinka arranges everything in a unique style. We love bringing people together and creating a delicious vibe. We love the synergy that is born between us and the dancing crowd. Our songs are alive and fluid, and we often create new arrangements on the spot during shows.

Through music, we explore culture, melody, rhythm, style, language. As we dig deeper, we see the ancient roots that connect us all. The world is a beautiful place in need of healing.. we sing, we dance, we tell our stories and grow stronger together.

Large Format Printmaking Seven Week Workshop Begins

Join us for our annual seven week workshop all about carving and printing BIG! Each year we dedicate a full six weeks to the adventure of printmaking. During this six week course we learn about design, carving on the large, both a 7x20 block to prepared for the 36x96 inch (3ft x 8ft) wood block. At the end of this adventure, we are hosted by a local space who invites us to have out Steamroller event.

What to expect during our 7 week course: We’ll start our meetings at the Bazaar at 6pm two times a week (meeting days TBD) to discus and design your image and start carving smaller block. Once the smaller block is carved and printed we’ll relocate up to Rosie’s studio where space is more available for such a big adventure. Rosie will show you how to then transfer your image onto the large wood block and how to start carving your masterpiece.

Following the completion of wood blocks we’ll be gathering at a venue for the Steamrollig Event where we’ll ink and print our pieces using a compact roller as our press. This event is open to the public!

Space is limited

Cost: $600/maker, Includes ALL the material, instruction (carving and brayer tool rental, small and large blocks, ink, fabric for printing on to, compact roller rental for main even) + Event fee for venue rental. If you’re interested in splitting a board with a friend, you’re more than welcome to. Collaboration is so FUN! If splitting a board with a fellow collaborator, cost is $400/each. Though you’re sharing a board you each still get to design and carve your own 7x20 block and get equal print quantities.

Start date is subject to change within a few days as we get closer to June to better fit schedules.
